“I picked up this book when my incredible wife, Cathy Seeley, received one of the first copies.  It looked interesting.  After reading the first two pages of the introduction, I was hooked, and spent the remainder of the evening reading and skimming the entire book.  I was fascinated.  By a math book? Yes.

 I am a 77-year-old, retired engineer.  Aerospace and Industrial.  Yes, I have lots of college math courses under my belt.  But I vividly recall sitting in Algebra I as a 15-year-old thinking “this is the most worthless thing I have ever heard.”  I was not a math prodigy.

 I wish I had access to this book as an elementary school student.  After a highly successful career as an engineer, I found myself learning new insights into the fundamental principles and meaning of our number system.  Yes, after all these years of education and application, my understanding of the basics elementary math was improved!  Dr. Sullivan presents the principles of elementary math in such a clear and logical progression that this book should be in all teachers’ arsenals, not just math teachers!  Elementary school teachers will come away from this book ready to convey Dr. Sullivan’s four “superpower understandings” to their students in a way that will revolutionize student comprehension and achievement.  Well done!”
